Shivling - 6543 meters, magnificent pyramid
of rock and ice seen by Westerners as one of the most beautiful
mountains on Earth. For Hindu, it is the lingam (phallus) of Shiva, god
guard watching over the sacred sources of the Ganges, as it is at the
foot of Shivling emerges that the raging torrent whose waters irrigate
the whole of northern India . Here, pilgrims have traced for millennia
roads we enjoy. The Garwhal has many similarities with the nearby
Nepal. High peaks - the Nanda Devi with its 7817 meters is the highest
peak in India - friendly people, many roads and well maintained. Nature
is extraordinary, the numerous and varied flora, the magnificent peaks.
Our itinerary, comprehensive, can discover this region in all its
facets: we walk through fantastic jungle of rhododendron and bamboo, we
will cross many villages surrounded by rice terraces, we tread the
glacier camp at the foot giants Himalayan and visit the shrines of
Hinduism. A complete circuit that has everything a classic !!

DAY 01: ARRIVAL DELHI :
Upon arrival around mid night, at Delhi International airport, meet to
our representative, transfer to hotel for rest of the time.
DAY 02: DELHI - RISHIKESH (250 km) 6-7 HRS
DRIVE :
Departure by road to Rishikesh, situated on the banks of the Ganges.
Important pilgrimage center and gateway to the Hindu shrines of
Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. The pilgrimage season
starts in April / May and lasts until the Day of Deepawali (festival of
lights, the equivalent of Christmas) in October / November. The course
of the Ganges until tempestuous, subsides to irrigate vast plains of
northern India. Lunch en route, overnight in a local hotel.
DAY 03: RISHIKESH - GAURIKUND 2000M (215 km) 8-9 HRS DRIVE :
After following the Ganga and the Alaknanda, we turn off in the
Mandakini valley with superb mountain scenery. Arrive late afternoon in
the village very typical Gaurikund that we visit. Gaurikund (2000 m) is
the terminus of the road and leaving a path of pilgrimage very
important. Overnight in a local hotel basic.
DAY 04: GAURIKUND - KEDARNATH (3500M) 14 KM/
5-6 HRS TREK :
Start trekking. In the month of April, when the KAPAT (Door) are open
of the timples, you can see many pilgrims. In May, we're involved in an
amazing crowd of pilgrims, devotees, of saddhous, ascetics, the way
full of porter, they carrying men, women and children, horses, donkeys,
mules and sellers of everything ... The show is amazing! The rise,
impressive (1500 m), is very steady and gradual. The path winds through
the jungle, the peaks are revealed gradually, and we arrive at the
shrine of Kedernath in a ring of splendid mountains. Camp near the
village entrance. Overnight in guest house or basic hotel.
DAY 0 5: KEDARNATH - GAURIKUND (2000M) 4-5 HRS TREK :
Early in the morning, beautiful sunrise on the peak Kedarnath (6968 m),
the Sumeru Parbat (6350 m), Bharti Khunta (6578 m) and many other
peaks. Visit Temple Kedernath, pilgrims to worship a rock that would
form the rounded hump of a bull in the skin which Shiva the great sage
would have hidden to escape his pursuers. Descent to Gaurikund, where
we spend the night in a local hotel basic or guest house.
DAY 06: GAURIKUND - TRIYUGI NARAYAN 2300 M.: 5-6 HRS TREK :
Early in the morning start the trek, We descend the Mandakini river and
leave the road to borrow a nice trail uphill. We turn then
semi-tropical jungles to the magnificent mountain forests to Triyugi
Narayan, 2hrs follow the road, Triyugi Narayan village, upon arrive
take the tent for overngiht, rest of the time visit Shiva and Parvati
Temple. Overnight at Camp.
DAY 07: TRIYUGI NARAYAN - MAGGU (3250M)- DHUPHANDA 3300M: 8-9 HRS TREK :
Morning after breakfast commence trek to Dhuphanda on the way see the
Nanda Devi (7816 m) & Keder peak is one of the most beautiful
Himalayan shows. Dhuphanda (3300 m) the long day but extraordinery,
first part of the trek ascend, later follow a ridge from where you can
see several Himalayan Peak more than 7000m and valleys. We travel
between earth and heaven in a sea of green hills dying at the foot of
impressive mountain ranges. End the day in the rhododendron forests
inhabited by monkeys and musk deer. Camping in the grasslands of
Dhuphanda.
DAY 08: DHUPHANDA - GHUTTU (1600 m) 6-7 HRS TREK :
A small pass (3500 m) allows us to pass through the valley of the river
Bhilangana. Long descent into the jungle and arrived in the middle of
the rice terraces which line the valley floor. Through the small
villages. On arrival at Ghuttu take tent for overnight stay, Rest of
the time visit small market.
DAY 09: GHUTTU - BHAIRON CHATTI (2450M) 7-8 HRS TREK :
The local people, they depand mainly agricultural, is working in the
fields. We are rediscovering techniques have long been forgotten among
Europ. Long but steady climb up a ridge where the view is particularly
beautiful. En the way visit several villages. Our camp in the
grasslands of Bhairon Chatti is one of the most beautiful circuit.
DAY 10: BHAIRON CHATTI - BUDA KEDAR- JHALA CHATTI (2100M) :
We went up yesterday, we goes down today. The path soon leaves the
forest to find the villages bordered by crops and join the River Bal
Ganga. A suspension bridge takes us right bank. Reach Buda Kedar, take
luch break there than continue walk follow a road, 2 hrs more walk till
the camp site at Pagrada.
DAY 11: JHALA CHATTI - BELAK PASS (3000M), 6-7 HRS TREK :
A path winding through forests of extraordinary ... takes us straight
to heaven. The climb is tough but still beautiful. A few small herder
villages (Pangrana) we are leaving the tree tops. Since the Belak pass,
beautiful views of the mountains. Camp overnight.
DAY 12: BELAK PASS - MALLA (1,650 m) - GANGOTRI (3-4 HRS TREK+4 HRS
DRIVE) :
Nature is so beautiful that we do not know where to look. Sometimes,
colony of monkeys disturb the calm that surrounds us or watch us pass.
We reach the important Baghirati Valley reach Malla the road head. End
of the first trek. We find the road paved. Take vehicle to Gangotri
(3000 m), a wonderful journey of 60 km. Many saddhous. On arrival chec
in guest house or basic hotel. Overnight in local lodge.
DAY 13: GANGOTRI (3000M) - CHIRBASSA (3600M) - BHOJBASA (3800M) 6-7 HRS
TREK :
The second part of our trek begins at Gangotri. Step relatively easy
and short. The path, well marked and follows the right bank of a
beautiful high valley in which flows the mighty river Baghirati, its
waters mingle with the river Alaknanda and give birth to the sacred
river between All the Ganges. Many pilgrims ascend slowly, praying to
be forgiven a life of sin. The Hindu scriptures say that drown in the
Ganges issue brings complete and total ... Camping at Bhojbasa.
DAY 14: BHOJBASA - GAUMUKH- TAPOVAN (4400M) 3-4 HRS TREK :
Magnificent peaks appear above the valley. We reach the place called
Gaumukh ( "mouth of the cow"), where the Ganges is officially born at
the foot of a huge glacier. A little dangerous way (good shoes
required) takes us above the glacier, we crossed to reach, after a hard
climb, the magnificent site of Tapovan and its pleasant meadow. We're
finally at the foot of Shivling. It is exceptional for trekkers from
approaching too near a great mountain. Camp at Tapovan.
Note: In case of heavy snowfall and earlier,
this step can be shortened to Tapovan the ascent became so sensitive.
The guide will decide on the spot.
DAY 15: TAPOVAN - CHIR BASA-(3600M) -
GANGOTRI (3000M) 6-7 HRS TREK :
Early morning descend trek to back Chir Basa along the crowded road
where Hindu pilgrims. Very beautiful alpine scenery. Continue to
Gangotri, we find a few hours. Overnight in tents.
DAY 16: GANGOTRI - UTTARKASHI (1138M - 95 km/ 4-5 HRS DRIVE)
The bus waits for us, and we set off towards the plains for the night
at Uttarkashi. Overnight Hotel at Uttarkashi, if the time is allowed we
visit the Neharu Institude of Mountaineering (NIM).
DAY 17: UTTARKASHI - RISHIKESH (160 km)/ 5-6 HRS DRIVE :
Morning drive to Rishikesh, on arrival check in hotel for overngiht.
rest of the time visit the holy city.
DAY 18: RISHIKESH - DELHI :
Morning drive to Delhi around 7 hrs. on arrival check in for overngiht.
DAY 19: DELHI :
Free day in Delhi, used to buffer days in case of delays on the route.
Possible excursion to Agra. By late afternoon, transfer to
